सेवा का अपना तरीका

मैं ऑफिस बस से ही आती जाती हूँ । ये मेरी दिनचर्या का हिस्सा हैं । उस दिन भी बस काफ़ी देर से आई, लगभग आधे-पौन घंटे बाद । खड़े-खड़े पैर दुखने लगे थे । पर चलो शुक्र था कि बस मिल गई । देर से आने के कारण भी और पहले से ही बस काफी भरी हुई थी ।

बस में चढ़ कर मैंनें चारों तरफ नज़र दौडाई तो पाया कि सभी सीटें भर चुकी थी । उम्मीद की कोई किरण नज़र नही आई ।

 तभी एक मजदूरन ने मुझे आवाज़ लगाकर अपनी सीट देते हुए कहा, "मैडम आप यहां बैठ जाये ।" मैंनें उसे धन्यवाद देते हुए उस सीट पर बैठकर राहत को सांस ली । वो महिला मेरे साथ बस स्टांप पर खड़ी थी तब मैंने उस पर ध्यान नही दिया था ।

कुछ देर बाद मेरे पास वाली सीट खाली हुई, तो मैंने उसे बैठने का इशारा किया । तब उसने एक महिला को उस सीट पर बिठा दिया जिसकी गोद में एक छोटा बच्चा था ।

वो मजदूरन भीड़ की धक्का-मुक्की सहते हुए एक पोल को पकड़कर खड़ी थी । थोड़ी देर बाद बच्चे वाली औरत अपने गन्तव्य पर उतर गई ।

इस बार वही सीट एक बुजुर्ग को दे दी, जो लम्बे समय से बस में खड़े थे । मुझे आश्चर्य हुआ कि हम दिन-रात बस की सीट के लिये लड़ते है और ये सीट मिलती है और दूसरे को दे देती हैं ।

कुछ देर बाद वो बुजुर्ग भी अपने स्टांप पर उतर गए, तब वो सीट पर बैठी । मुझसे रहा नही गया, तो उससे पूछ बैठी,

 "तुम्हें तो सीट मिल गई थी एक या दो बार नही, बल्कि तीन बार, फिर भी तुमने सीट क्यों छोड़ी ? तुम दिन भर ईट-गारा ढोती हो, आराम की जरूरत तो तुम्हें भी होगी, फिर क्यो नही बैठी ?

मेरी इस बात का जवाब उसने दिया उसकी उम्मीद मैंने कभी नही की थी । उसने कहा, "मैं भी थकती हूँ । आप से पहले से स्टांप पर खड़ी थी, मेरे भी पैरों में दर्द होने लगा था । जब मैं बस में चढ़ी थी तब यही सीट खाली थी । मैंने देखा आपके पैरों में तकलीफ होने के कारण आप धीरे-धीरे बस में चढ़ी । ऐसे में आप कैसे खड़ी रहती इसलिये मैंने आपको सीट दी । उस बच्चे वाली महिला को सीट इसलिये दी उसकी गोद में छोटा बच्चा था जो बहुत देर से रो रहा था । उसने सीट पर बैठते ही सुकून महसूस किया । बुजुर्ग के खड़े रहते मैं कैसे बैठती, सो उन्हें दे दी । मैंने उन्हें सीट देकर ढेरों आशर्वाद पाए । कुछ देर का सफर है मैडम जी, सीट के लिये क्या लड़ना । वैसे भी सीट को बस में ही छोड़ कर जाना हैं, घर तो नहीं ले जाना ना । मैं ठहरी ईट-गारा ढोने वाली, मेरे पास क्या हैं, न दान करने लायक धन हैं, न कोई पुण्य कमाने लायक करने को कुछ । रास्ते से कचरा हटा देती हूं, रास्ते के पत्थर बटोर देती हूं, कभी कोई पौधा लगा देती हूं । यहां बस में अपनी सीट दे देती हूं । यही है मेंरे पास, यही करना मुझे आता है ।" वो तो मुस्करा कर चली गई पर मुझे आत्ममंथन करने को मजबूर कर गई । 

मुझे उसकी बातों से एक सीख मिली कि हम बड़ा कुछ नही कर सकते  तो समाज में एक छोटा सा, नगण्य दिखने वाला कार्य तो कर सकते हैं ।

मुझे लगा ये मज़दूर महिला उन लोगों के लिये सबक हैं जो आयकर बचाने के लिए अपनी काली कमाई को दान के नाम पर खपाते हैं, या फिर वो लोग जिनके पास पर्याप्त पैसा होते हुए भी गरीबी का रोना रोते हैं । इस समाजसेवा के नाम पर बड़ी-बड़ी बातें करते हैं परन्तु इन छोटी-छोटी बातों पर कभी ध्यान नहीं देते ।

 मैंने मन ही मन उस महिला को नमन किया तथा उससे सीख ली यदि हमें समाज के लिए कुछ करना हो, तो वो दिखावे के लिए न किया जाए बल्कि खुद की संतुष्टि के लिए हो ।

सेवा करके हम सदैव प्रसन्न रह सकते हैं..... !!

Your way of service

I keep coming from the office bus. These are part of my daily routine. The bus arrived too late that day, about half-a-quarter of an hour later. Standing feet were hurting. But thankfully, the bus was found. Due to late arrival and the bus was already full.

As I boarded the bus, I looked around and found that all the seats were full. There was no ray of hope.

 Then a laborer gave me his voice and said, "Madam, you should sit here." I thanked him and sat on that seat and breathed a sigh of relief. That woman was standing with me on the bus stamp when I did not pay attention to her.

After some time the seat next to me became vacant, so I gestured for him to sit. She then placed a woman on the seat with a small child in her lap.

She stood by holding a pole with the push of the mob. After a while the woman with the child landed at her destination.

This time he gave the same seat to an elderly person, who was standing in the bus for a long time. I was surprised that we fight day and night for the bus seat and get this seat and give it to another.

After some time, those elders also got down on their stamp, then she sat on the seat. I could not stand it, then sat asking her,

 "You had got a seat not once or twice, but three times, but why did you leave the seat? You carry the brick and mortar throughout the day, you will also need rest, why not sit again?"

He replied to me that I had never expected him. He said, "I am tired too. I was already on the stamp, my legs started hurting. The same seat was empty when I got on the bus. I saw you slowly because of the discomfort in your feet. - Got into the bus. So, how did you stand so I gave you a seat. She gave a seat to the woman with that child, because she had a little baby in her lap who was crying for a long time. She felt relaxed as she sat on the seat. Elder How did I sit while standing, gave it to them. I gave them a lot of blessings by giving them a seat. Madam ji, what is the fight for the seat. Anyway, you have to leave the seat in the bus, do not take home Don't know. I have to carry a lot of brick and mortar, what do I have, nor do I have any money worth donating, nor anything worth earning. I remove garbage from the way, collect stones from the road, never plant any plant Let me. Here I give my seat in the bus. This is what I have, I know how to do it. " She left with a smile but forced me to introspect.

I got a lesson from his talk that if we cannot do big things then we can do a small, negligible appearance in society.

I felt that these working women are a lesson for those who spend their black money in the name of charity to save income tax, or those people who despite having enough money cry the poverty. They talk big things in the name of this social service, but never pay attention to these small things.

 I bowed down to the woman in my mind and learned from her that if we want to do something for the society, it should not be done for showmanship but for the satisfaction of ourselves.

May we always be happy by serving ..... !!
